Several Leagues are now finishing this week, including the Men’s Tuesday League and the Mid-Wilts Mixed Triples League.
Anyway there were still a number of games this week, starting on Sunday with an away friendly to Swindon North End, report awaited. In the morning it was the semi-final of the West Wilts Holloway Pairs, our pair Yvonne McColl and David Johns (the holders) were at home to K Yeomans/K Holmes and unfortunately lost.
On Monday evening the last semi-final in the Gunning cup (men’s singles) between Paul Mackie and Dave Johns was played with David Johns winning 21-5. David now faces Barry Wicks in the final, date to be decided.
On Monday afternoon our ladies played at home in the Nor West League against Broughton Gifford, our ladies had a good win 42-33. They had to break at one time because of the rain, this must be one of the first this season.
On Tuesday afternoon our ladies played at home against North Wilts in the B/W league, our ladies had a good game but were beaten by North Wilts 24-48, The ladies all played in good spirit despite their loss.
Our ladies green team played away at North Wilts, in The Seidal League they came away very pleased with a 8-19 victory,
In the Men’s White Horse League the A Team were at home to Westbourne A and lost 9-16, whilst the B team were away to Devizes E and lost narrowly 14-17, the C team had an open day.
In the evening it is Club Night, let’s hope the rain stays away, as well as the last group game in the Aussie Pairs competition before the semi-finals start, it was between Sheila Murphy/Norman Lawton and Barry Wicks/Dave Johns., with the Wicks/Johns duo winning.
On Wednesday the Masons are at home to Gloucester Masons, at half time the Wiltshire side we behind but with the aid of ice creams they kept their cool and won 72-63. It was a very enjoyable afternoon finishing of with sandwiches and home made cake.
In the evening our ladies played away to Chippenham Park in the Nor West league, our ladies had a good win 32-24. The final results for the league have been received and our ladies came 3rd in the league narrowly missing out on promotion for next season, as Chippenham Park took 2nd place and Trowbridge Weston taking first place.
On Thursday afternoon our Ladies Pairs semi-final competition was played between Sheila Murphy/Pat Watson and Mary Marsh/Sue Pitman, It was a good game an extra end had to be played as at the end of 21 ends both teams were level, on the extra end Mary & Sue took shot, 15-14. Mary & Sue take on Sally and Sylvia in the finals TBA.
Thursday in the MWMTL the A team were away to Chippenham Park B, winning 66-32 (10-0pts)and are now Division 1 champions, whilst the B team were at home to Chippenham Town Swallows. and also ended the season winning 48-45 (8-2pts)
Friday afternoon it was the final of the ladies two wood competition between Yvonne and Sheila, It was a good game and Yvonne won 16-11, Well done to both ladies for reaching the finals.
On Sunday morning at 11.00am Sally Field will be playing against Mary Marsh in the Hatherall 101 final, Well done on reaching the final. Good luck ladies!
