The week started with our Gala day – see separate posting.

On Monday the Ladies Pairs final took place between Sylvia Chambers and Sally Field against Mary Marsh and Sue Pitman, the result was 17 – 11 to Sally/Sylvia, it was apparently a close game, with rain added, lovely!start time 11.00am.

The friendly against Trowbridge Westbourne on Monday has been cancelled.

Our ladies played in the Seidal league on Tuesday, The green team were home against Box(pink) and lost 8-25, The Blue team were away to Corsham and lost 11-14.

The final results for the B/W ladies league 2022, Our ladies came 4th, It was a good season as our ladies were against some top opposition, Well done ladies!

As normal in the evening it was club night, luckily the rain held of and we managed 2 hours of bowling.

On Wednesday evening the Men’s Singles (Gunning Cup) final took place between Barry Wicks and David Johns, with The rain holding off again, Barry won 21-9.

The final of the Men’s White Horse league took place at Spencer Melksham on Thursday with Broughton Gifford ‘B’ coming out winners by 15-12 over Chippenham Town Tigers.

As the leagues have now ended, on Thursday evening the men had a roll-up, with spider and nibbles, it was a good evening with experienced and new players enjoying 3 rinks of triples organised by Martin, the rain held off – yet again –  and everyone enjoyed themselves.

Due to the sad passing of our Queen, out of respect the game at Leamington had been cancelled on Friday.

Calne Bowls Club are so proud of the ladies for reaching this level, being the first team to reach Leamington.

Medal presentation

Our ladies played in the National Final’s over 55’s, on Saturday morning at 9.30am. Great News!! They won 19-13.

In the first round they played Gloucester   having to play an extra end 16-14, WELL DONE LADIES!!

Our ladies played Kent in the 2nd round this afternoon and sadly lost 22-5, The game was better than the score   indicates.

I hope that the ladies will have a celebration drink tonight for their great achievements.
