Our green opened for the 2023 season today Saturday 15th April at 11.00am, Barry Wicks. Our chairman will as always sent the first wood on its way, as normal he used the 4 original woods that are over a 100 years old and were used by a past member Bramwell Watson (initials on the bowls at B.W. very apt ), who won many county titles and bowled from 1921 to 1961, winning the Calne singles title 16 times.
Below are photo’s of the event, with apologies for our Chairman’s frontage!!, also a picture of the C.B.C. Gates that have been now moved to there new home by the pavilion, the age of these is not known, so if anyone has any idea when they were made please contact us.
I final item before the photo’s congratulations to Yvonne McColl and Mayumi Lewis (who both represented Wiltshire (Calne) at Leamington Spa last year 2022, in being chosen for the Johns Trophy trials this year, yet another achievement for our Ladies.
