The first event of the week is on Sunday 7th May, when we hold our Open Day, starting 10-00am to 3-00pm, everyone is welcome to try out the great game of bowls, see separate posting for full details.
The Monday is a Bank Holiday, however we were due to play Blue Circle at home in the North Wilts Mixed League, start game 2-00pm, unfortunately due the weather the game was postponed, once the decision was made the rain eased and it turned out to be a nice afternoon.
On Monday our ladies played away to Wroughton in the 1st round County fours, they had a win of 19-16, despite the weather. We would like to say Well Done!! and wish them well in the next round due to played on Friday. Venue TBC
On Tuesday there were meant to be 4 games in the afternoon in the Men’s White Horse League, start time 2-00pm, unfortunately the game in Div 3 – the Falcons away to Winsley Weavers was cancelled by Winsley due to flooding.
In Div 5 – the Beez were at home to Devizes D and won 24-7, whilst the Cavaliers also won at home to Devizes E 20-10, well done.
Tuesday evening at 6-00pm in the Bowls Wiltshire Triples League, the ladies were away to Broughton Gifford. The weather stopped play after 6 ends, Calne were winning 27-6. The game will now have to be rearranged, and the scores will be carried forward.
On Tuesday in the evening Martin Summers/partner are in the first round of the BE men’s Senior pairs starting 6-15 pm.
Wednesday evening at 6-00pm in the Nor-West league, the ladies were at home to Corsham and won 34-26, well done ladies.
On Thursday both Mid-Wilts triples teams were in action, start time 6-15pm
Premier league – Calne A were at home to Warminster A and won 47-26 (9-1 pts)
Div 2 – Calne B were away to Warminster B., game cancelled due to waterlogged rinks.
Friday is Club Night arrive at 17-30pm for 18-00pm start. There was also the 1st round of the BW National County Fours, start time 6-15 pm, Calne ( Dave Johns, Hugh Burchell, Martin Summer and Barry Wicks, skip) beat Marlborough 24-7 (conceded after 13 ends), to go through to the last 16, well done lads.

At the same time Barry Wicks played his first game in the BW National over 55 singles against Graham Richards, start time 2-00 pm, Barry won 22-9, well done Barry 2 wins in 2 days.
Unfortunately your correspondent has heard that the McColl team (Yvonne and Steve) lost in the family pairs, hard luck, next year.
