Calne make the final of the Men’s White Horse League Play-offs for the first time, since joining the league

A little back ground first, These are the finals and is between the 5 league winners and the 3 best runners up, ( there are 5 leagues comprising a total of 48 teams.

Monday 4th Sept was the quarter finals

Tuesday 5th Sept the semi- finals

Thursday 7th the final.

Calne Falcons won Division 3 and qualified, in the first round they were up against Division 2 runners-up Trowbridge Westbourne A. Unfortunately Steve McColl could not play as Yvonne has gone down with Covid, we wish her a speedy recovery. However come the hour come the man, Les Fish ably took his place and with the other members of the team-Dave Davies, Derek Nicholson and Roy Jennings triumphed over the opposition 24-6 after 16 ends, Westbourne conceded the game with 2 ends to go.
The Semi-Finals followed on Tuesday and they played Spencer Melksham D, who were the Division 2 winners, the result of a tight game was 18-17 to the Falcons, another great win.

Having reached the final they had to play Chippenham Town A (winners of division 1), although taking an early lead, they were pegged back and eventually lost 16-21. A great achievement as we only joined the league in the last ten years. Well done lads and the wins against the Division 2 winners and runners-up give them great confidence when they play in that division in 2024, having won Division 3 the year.
