Rod Amor 1948 – 2023 (updated with further postings)

A service was held at St. Nicholas Church, Bromham to celebrate the life of Rod, who was a good friend, bowler, club man and above all else a gentleman.

Over 200 people attended the service and the church was absolutely full.  As we sang the hymns that celebrated the life Rod had led, I had no doubt that wherever Rod is now he would have been aware of the gathering of his many, many friends.

I have looked through some 2,500 photographs we have in the club achive and found only 10 featuring Rod, He was always difficult to catch, but at least I have one that shows him for his nickname ‘milk bottle legs’! I make no apology for some of them and I don’t think it is possible to capture the essence that was Rod. He never had a bad word to say about anybody and he always held to the adage that no one ever bowls a bad wood on purpose –  I know that from practice as I often played on his rink and managed to destroy more than one head in my time at Calne.
